About Kero
Known professionally as The Square Kero, Taher Abid is a Tunisian graphic designer and street artist who views typography as the heartbeat of human civilization. A graduate of the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts, Kero’s practice is rooted in a profound belief: that letters are the most significant invention in history, the essential tools that allowed us to read the past, record our present, and project ourselves into the future.
For Kero, his work is a tribute to this vast accumulation of human knowledge. By deconstructing and reimagining Arabic and Latin letterforms, he explores how these ancient systems can evolve into modern, high-contrast visual languages. His aesthetic is defined by bold geometric patterns, architectural symmetry, and vibrant color palettes that have been shaped by his travels and research across the Mediterranean and Middle East.
Whether designing a digital typeface or painting a large-scale mural, Kero’s goal is to ensure that the visual heritage of our ancestors continues to breathe and innovate in the urban landscapes of today. To him, every stroke is an act of preservation and a vital step toward a creative future.
